Westwerk Festival 2025 – Review

On September 13, 2025, the Westwerk was transformed for the first time into a place of encounter, creativity, and culture. From 12 noon to 10 p.m., the buildings opened their doors and showcased the diversity of the site — featuring studios, galleries, craftsmanship, brewing culture, music, and culinary offerings.

The programme offered numerous insights, including guided tours of selected galleries such as the Akanthus Gallery, group exhibitions, live painting, performances, dance, and live music. Hourly Westwerk tours complemented the programme, providing a compact overview of the site’s history, architecture, and uses.

Music, gastronomy, and creative activities were spread throughout the grounds, creating spaces for lingering and exchange. Numerous tenants from all Westwerk buildings took part in the festival, bringing the site vividly to life for the day.

The Westwerk Festival offered a compelling insight into the site’s diverse uses and demonstrated how Corpure, together with its tenants, has been developing the Westwerk as a hub for art, craftsmanship, and community for over a decade — while preserving its historic building fabric. In this way, the industrial architecture becomes an experience in itself, revealing the distinctive charm of the Westwerk.
